The diameters of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
Single-mode fiber optic jumpers have three diameters: 9/125μm, 7/125μm and 5/125μm. FS mainly supplies fiber optic jumpers with a diameter of 9/125μm, where 9 represents the diameter of the fiber core and 125 represents the diameter of the glass cladding.
Multi-mode fiber optic jumpers have four diameters: 62.5/125μm (OM1), 50/125μm (OM2), 10G OM3 50/125 and 10G OM4 50/125. OM1 is suitable for 100M fiber optic, OM2 is suitable for 1000M fiber optic, and OM3 and OM4 are suitable for 10000M fiber optic.
The types of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
As we all know, there are roughly four types of fiber optic jumpers: conventional fiber optic jumpers, high-density fiber optic jumpers, MTP/MPO fiber optic jumpers and armored fiber optic jumpers. However, according to single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers, these four types of optical modules can be further divided into many types.
The wavelengths of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
When setting the wavelength of fiber optic jumpers, low loss should be considered. Therefore, the main wavelengths of single-mode fiber optic jumpers are 1310nm and 1550nm, while the main wavelengths of multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are 850nm and 1300nm.
The colors of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
The color of the cable body
The cable body color of single-mode conventional fiber optic jumpers is yellow, while the cable body color of single-mode armored fiber optic jumpers is blue. The cable body colors of multi-mode conventional fiber optic jumpers are: OM1 and OM2 are orange, 10G OM3 and OM4 are aqua, and OM5 is lime.
The cable body colors of multi-mode armored fiber optic jumpers are: OM1 and OM2 are gray, 10G OM3 and OM4 are aqua, and OM5 is lime.
The color of the connector
The connector of single-mode fiber optic jumpers or buckle: LC and SC (UPC) are blue, FC and ST (UPC) are black, and APC is generally green.
The connectors or buckles on multi-modefiber optic jumpers: LC and SC (UPC) are blue, and FC and ST (UPC) are black, but multi-mode fiber optic jumpers do not have APC.
The prints on single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
The cable body of single-mode fiber optic jumpers usually bears the words SM or G652, G655, G657, and 9/125.
The prints on multi-mode fiber optic jumpers: The cable body of multi-mode fiber optic jumpers usually bears the words MM, OM3, 50/125, or 62.5/125.
The attenuation coefficients of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
The attenuation coefficient of single-mode fiber optic jumpers with a wavelength of 1310/1300nm is 0.3dB/km, while the attenuation coefficient of single-mode fiber optic jumpers with a wavelength of 1550nm is 0.2dB/km.
The attenuation coefficient of multi-mode fiber optic jumpers with a wavelength of 850nm is 3dB/km, while the attenuation coefficient of multi-mode fiber optic jumpers with a wavelength of 1300nm is 1dB/km.
The transmission modes of single-mode and multi-mode fiber optic jumpers are different
The transmission mode of single-mode fiber optic jumpers: Light is transmitted along the axis of the fiber, completely avoiding dispersion and wasting of optical energy.
The transmission mode of multi-mode fiber optics: Light will constantly reflect along the wall of the fiber, which will cause a lot of dispersion and waste of optical energy.
